UNESCO Endorsement
From its early days, the ISIC has enjoyed support from the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). This partnership led to an official endorsement in 1968, with UNESCO recognizing the ISIC card as the only internationally accepted proof of full-time student status. The card is also seen as a unique document promoting cultural exchange and fostering international understanding.

In 1993, the ISIC Association signed a renewed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with UNESCO, allowing the inclusion of the UNESCO logo on the ISIC card. Over the years, UNESCO and ISIC have collaborated on various initiatives, including providing preferential access to World Heritage sites and promoting intercultural understanding.

UNWTO Affiliate Endorsement
In August 2013, the ISIC Association was accepted as an Affiliate Member of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO). This affiliation enhances the ISIC card's official standing and recognition within the global travel industry.
